The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Sport Management Research provides a curriculum designed to equip aspiring sport management scholars with specialized expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

The curriculum is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in research methods, data analysis and independent research, preparing you for success in both academic and professional endeavors.

Through a combination of theoretical and hands-on courses, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of research principles and their application to sport management culminating into the completion of a master thesis or a research project.

The Advanced Sport Management Research Graduate Certificate provides comprehensive understanding of research principles and their application to sport management, culminating in the completion of a master thesis or a research project.

Students in the Advanced Sport Management Certificate Program will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in designing, executing and evaluating research studies using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, showcasing their ability to employ diverse research approaches tailored to specific sport management contexts.
  • Develop the capacity to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets, enabling them to derive meaningful insights and make informed decisions in sport management scenarios, from strategic planning to performance optimization.
  • Produce a substantial independent research project, showcasing their ability to contribute original insights to the field of sport management and effectively communicate their findings through scholarly writing and presentation.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into a graduate program at WVU an applicant must submit official, bachelor's degree transcripts from a regionally accredited institution and hold a GPA of at least 2.75. WVU operates decentralized admissions. Decentralized admissions allows each graduate program to set its own application requirements in addition to the University requirements.
