Hospitality and Tourism Management, BSBA

The Hardy Family Hospitality and Tourism Management Program is designed to meet the needs of one of West Virginia's major economic drivers.

Our curriculum incorporates real-world projects that tackle issues faced by hospitality and tourism businesses today. We partner with Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to provide hands-on learning experience with hospitality professionals. In addition to learning the best business practices, you'll gain the skills needed to lead a customer-focused team.

Learning happens outside the classroom. Get involved.

Our students work with businesses in the state and region to conduct research projects to explore and examine current or future trends and challenges. They have access to Smith Travel Research (STR) share center data and reports, and present their research at the Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol and WVU undergraduate research symposiums.

All Hospitality and Tourism Management courses provide an experiential learning component, which might include:

  • Shadowing managers in the industry
  • Solving operational challenges in hotels and restaurants
  • Planning a real-time event
  • Creating a social media campaign
  • Conducting a market research study of a destination
