Pay Your Academic Deposit
The academic deposit is required of incoming first-time freshman. Transfer students may be required to submit the academic deposit related to WVU housing or Adventure WV.
Steps to Complete
- If you haven't done so already, claim your account.
- Sign in to WVU Portal using your WVU Login credentials.
- Select the Pay Your Academic Deposit link.
- Pay the academic deposit — $150 for West Virginia residents and $250 for all other students — using an electronic check or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express).
Contact the WVU IT Service Desk if you have a technical problem while paying the academic deposit.

Transfer students who plan to live in a WVU residence hall or participate in an Adventure WV Trip are required to pay the academic deposit. The academic deposit is fully refundable if you submit the cancellation form before May 1 (December 1 for students enrolling in the spring).
