Mountaineer Timeline

Keep track of important dates and deadlines leading up to your first semester at WVU.

September

  • Schedule a Visit to WVU
    In-person, virtual and self-guided options are available, including daily Visitors Center tours and open house events – Experience WVU!

November/December

  • Early November - Student insurance portal opens for students entering in the spring semester.

December

  • December 1 - Academic deposit payment due for students entering in the spring.
  • Housing application and selection is available to transfer admits who have paid the academic deposit. You are required to live in a WVU residence hall if you are transferring with fewer than 24 credits.
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Check your WVU Portal and MIX email frequently for important financial aid and merit scholarship details.

January

  • Transfer New Student Orientation for students entering in spring.

February

March

  • March 1 - FAFSA priority deadline for WVU.

June

July

  • First week of July - Fall charges are applied to your bill and available in WVU MyAccount via your WVU Portal.
  • Early July - Tuition Payment Plan is available for the fall semester.
  • July 7 and July 11 - New Student Orientation (transfer student programming available)
  • If you are living in a residence hall, watch your MIX email for details about signing up for your residence hall move-in time.

August

  • August 1:
    • Payment for fall tuition and fees due.
    • Deadline to be admitted for central merit scholarship eligibility; earlier deadlines may apply for select awards.
    • Last day for admitted transfer students to submit updated GPA and test scores for review of increased WVU merit aid.
  • August - Residence hall move-in. Time slots for all residence halls will be available each day.
  • August 13 - New Student Orientation (transfer student programming available)
  • August 20 - First day of fall 2025 classes.
