Submit the FAFSA

You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal aid. It's also required for other programs, like the West Virginia Promise Scholarship.

Steps to Complete

  1. Set up your Federal Student Aid ID.
  2. Fill out the FAFSA online or through the myStudentAid app.
  3. Use school code 003827 to send your information to WVU.
  4. Check your WVU MIX email frequently for follow-up steps you may need to complete, such as making corrections, submitting additional documents or simply accepting or declining your aid after it is offered.

Important Dates

  • March 1: WVU's FAFSA priority deadline
  • August 1: Merit scholarship eligibility deadline for first-time students.
