Are any events mandatory during Welcome Week?

All incoming students should attend their academic sessions and incoming first-year students should attend Monday Night Lights. You're strongly encouraged to attend as many events as your schedule allows.

Are the dining halls open when I move in?

Yes, the dining halls will be open and meal plans will be active for students who have a meal plan.

Families and guests are also welcome to dine in the dining halls for free during residence hall move-in, after they move their student in, courtesy of Student Life.

Can I bring a guest to FallFest?

Yes, WVU students can bring one guest with them to FallFest, as long as they are over 17 years of age.

Do any of the events require preregistration?

Yes, Welcome Week adventure, service and wellness activities require preregistration. Visit Choose an Activity and follow the links to see the descriptions and to preregister.

Do I need my student ID during Welcome Week?

Yes, you will need your student ID to gain entry to various events during Welcome Week and to ride the PRT; make sure to always have it with you!

What events are available for upperclassmen?

Monday Night Lights is a freshmen-only event. All other Welcome Week events are open to all undergraduate, graduate and professional students with a valid WVU student ID.

In addition to a valid WVU student ID, the Welcome Week Cookouts on Saturday, Aug. 17, also require a WVU Dining meal plan.

What transportation is available during Welcome Week?

Students can use the PRT during Welcome Week to get to events. The PRT will be running:

  • Friday, Aug. 16, 6:30 a.m.–10:15 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 17, 9:30 a.m.-10:15 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 18, 9:30 a.m.–11 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 19, 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 20, 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m.

When is the clear bag policy in effect?

Students must follow the clear bag policy for the Monday Night Lights event and for FoodFest/Fall Fest.

Where can I find a map of campus?

You can view and download maps of the Downtown, Evansdale and Health Sciences areas of campus at campusmap.wvu.edu. Physical maps will also be available at any of the Ask Us Anything (AUA) tents throughout the week.
